Suzuki Protection Plan
Suzuki Protection Plan is a comprehensive plan that covers all mechanical, electrical and computer systems on your Suzuki Motorcycle or ATV. Ask your local Authorized Dealer about Suzuki Protection Plan for extra peace of mind.

Compact, Light Engine
The high-performance 999.8cm3 four-stroke liquid-cooled DOHC inline-four engine is the most powerful and hardest accelerating engine in the GSX-R family.
Simple, compact and light, the centrifugally operated SR-VVT system is built into the intake cam sprocket and an adjacent guide plate, adding significantly to power at the high end.
The Suzuki Clutch Assist System (SCAS) contributes to smooth shifting and realizes a light touch to clutch lever operation that helps reduce fatigue on long rides, especially when caught in busy traffic.

Precision Power
In addition to the primary injectors that operate full-time in each throttle body, a secondary set of four Suzuki Top Feed Injectors (S-TFI) spray fuel from the top of the air box directly into the intake funnels at higher rpm. This results in enhanced combustion efficiency, throttle response and top-end power.

Suzuki Racing Finger Follower valve train
The Suzuki Racing Finger follower valve train system improves valve control and allows higher rpm.
The new exhaust system includes a slimmer new muffler design.

Suzuki Launch Control System
The Suzuki Launch Control System has also been updated to further improve its control scheme.
This system makes it easier for a racer to get a good start in closed-course competition by automatically limiting engine rpm and optimizing torque delivery while the rider holds the throttle twist grip wide open and concentrates on feeding in the clutch lever.
Each forged aluminum piston has short skirts, cutaway sides and a short, DLC-coated wrist pin to reduce friction.
The compression ratio is 13.8:1. In addition to the primary injector mounted in each throttle body, a second injector that operates at higher rpm — also known as a Top Feed Injector (TFI) — is mounted on top of the air cleaner box, directly over each throttle body’s intake funnel.
The TFI injector delivers additional fuel in an improved spray pattern designed to enhance combustion efficiency, throttle response and top-end power.
Suzuki Racing Variable Valve Timing System (SR-VVT)
The introduction of a wider new cam chain helps reduce friction loss.

Forged Aluminum pistons
Each forged aluminum piston has short skirts, cutaway sides and a short, DLC-coated wrist pin to reduce friction. The compression ratio is 13.8:1.
Suzuki Top Feed Injectors (S-TFI)
In addition to the primary injector mounted in each throttle body, a second injector that operates at higher rpm — also known as a Top Feed Injector (TFI) — is mounted in the top of the air cleaner box, directly over each throttle body’s intake funnel. The TFI injector delivers additional fuel in an improved spray pattern designed to enhance combustion efficiency, throttle response and top-end power.
Suzuki Dual Stage Intake (S-DSI)
A new single-stage funnel #1 and #4 design features a shape that contributes to improved output at high rpm.

4-2-1 exhaust system
A number of updates were applied to the 4-2-1 exhaust system. Enlarging the diameter of the exhaust pipe, a larger capacity elliptical (“racetrack-shaped”) catalytic converter, O2 sensors positioned in front and behind the catalytic converter, a more compact muffler body, and shot-blasted titanium muffler features a slim and stylish design.
SET-Alpha exhaust valves
New design SET-Alpha exhaust valves are in the balance tubes between the #1 and #4, and the #2 and #3 head pipes. Actuated by a cable from the main SET-valve, the Alpha valves open at higher engine speeds and close at lower RPM to help the engine create high peak power without losing low and mid-range horsepower.

Cooling System
The high-efficiency curved radiator with dual electric fans also contributes to excellent cooling performance, and the radiator itself adopts a more compact form.
Transmission
Based on Suzuki’s race-proven six-speed close-ratio transmissions, the new GSX-R1000 features vertically staggered shafts to reduce overall engine length.
The primary gear ratio is lower compared to the prior GSX-R1000 for stronger acceleration.
A programmable shift light is on the main panel to provide a visual alert to the rider to shift when a certain engine RPM is reached.
Bi-directional Quick-shift system
The Bi-directional Quick-shift system lets riders, using their motorcycle in competition, shift faster than ever before. The system’s clutchless shifting delivers the rider faster and more consistent lap times.

Suzuki Clutch Assist System (SCAS)
The Suzuki Clutch Assist System (SCAS) leverages precision-engineered ramps to force the clutch boss and pressure plate together and efficiently transfer torque to the rear wheel under acceleration, all while using softer clutch springs.

Chassis
The compact, light-weight chassis provides quick response and agility. It is designed to increase the rider’s confidence in RUN, TURN, STOP performance on the racetrack.

aluminum twin-spar style frame
Compact, light and rigid, the twin-spar aluminum frame is built to deliver nimble handling and great road holding ability.
SHOWA BFRC-lite (Balance Free Rear Cushion Lite)
Braced on both sides, the sturdy aluminum swingarm contributes to great road holding ability and provides the strength to withstand the demands of sporty runs on the road or the track.

Winglet
New winglets added to the front cowling direct airflow and generate downforce at high speeds to enhance stability.
Made of dry carbon produced in Japan, the quality stands head and shoulders above wet carbon products.
Winglets (optional accessory).
STRONG BRAKING PERFORMANCE
The GSX-R1000R uses radial-mount Brembo monoblock front brake callipers. Each calliper has four opposed ø32mm pistons acting on a ø320mm floating-mount disc for strong stopping power. A single hydraulic disc provides stopping power to the rear wheel.
The ABS unit has been changed to Astemo’s latest product, which is more compact and lighter, reducing weight by 51g over the unit on the previous model.
Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU)
Using MotoGP knowledge, Suzuki has fitted an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) on the new GSX-R1000. The IMU provides six direction, three axis motion and position information to the ECM so instantaneous adjustments can be made electronically to the engine and chassis components that influence performance.
Suzuki's advanced Motion Track TCS (Traction Control System)
The new and exclusive ten-mode, Motion Track Traction Control System (MT-TCS)*, with IMU influence, increases rider confidence by allowing adjustments to amount of intervention to match riding ability and surface conditions.
New Motion Track Anti-lock Brake System
Exclusive to Suzuki, the new Motion Track Anti-lock Brake System brings additional control to anti-lock braking (ABS). Like a conventional ABS system, the Motion Track Brake System provides the appropriate amount of braking force for the available traction. When the IMU detects the rear wheel lifting up from extreme braking forces, the ABS control module will adjust the front brake pressure to reduce the rear wheel lift.

Aerodynamic bodywork
The high-illumination LED headlight features low-beam and high-beam elements that are stacked, with the low-beam positioned above the high-beam. The narrow and compact design contributes to both aerodynamic performance and the sharp lines of the GSX-R1000R’s face.
LCD Multi-function Instrument Panel
The GSX-R1000R employs an LCD instrument panel that features a clearly legible display. This panel not only supplies critical real-time operating status information, but also keeps the rider aware of the settings for the bike’s respective systems.

LED Headlight
Sharp-looking LED position lights are located above the SRAD intakes on each side of the GSX-R1000R’s headlight, enhancing the distinctive, exciting look of the model’s face.

Distinctive LED Position Lights
A pair of distinctive, arched LED Position Lights accent the top edge of the Suzuki Ram Air-Direct (SRAD) ducts in the fairing nose to increase visibility and add to the motorcycle’s unique character.

Lighting Features
The LED combination tail/brake lamp features a vertical layout that contributes to the tail’s sharp, slim design.

SCEM - Suzuki Composite Electrochemical Material
Suzuki Composite Electrochemical Material (SCEM) is Suzuki’s own nickel-silicon-carbide coating technique derived from racetrack experience. SCEM cylinders allow faster heat transfer and tighter piston-to-cylinder clearance, for superb durability and resistance to scuffing.

SRAD - Suzuki Ram Air System
The Suzuki Ram Air-Direct (SRAD) air intakes are positioned close to the centreline of the fairing nose – the position offering optimum intake efficiency. This results in better intake efficiency, increasing engine power in high speed. * The technology is used in GSX-R1000, 750, 600 and Hayabusa.

SCAS - Suzuki Clutch Assist System
Suzuki Clutch Assist System (SCAS) - a back-torque-limiting clutch helps make downshifts smoother, assists the rider in taking control in deceleration. Ramped engagement cams built into the clutch hub decrease force on the clutch plates under deceleration by pushing up against the pressure plate, allowing the plates to slip at a controlled rate.

SDMS - Suzuki Drive Mode Selector
Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (S-DMS) system allows the rider to select one of three fuel injection and ignition system maps (2 maps in the case of GSX-R750/600), adjusting power delivery to suit personal preference in various riding situations, such as different racetracks or tight, twisty roads. Selecting and switching between mode settings is by a switch on the handlebar; the selected mode setting is displayed on the tachometer. The feature helps the rider to enjoy the performance in a wider range of riding situations. * The technology is used in GSX-R1000, 750, 600, DL1050 and Hayabusa.

SET - Suzuki Exhaust Tuning
Suzuki Exhaust Tuning (SET) system, which uses a servo-controlled butterfly valve to modify back pressure and tune the pipe to match engine rpm. At lower rpm, the valve closes, increasing back pressure and improving low-end torque. The valve progressively opens as engine speed increases, reducing back pressure and increasing mid-range and high-rpm power.

ABS - Anti-Lock Braking System
An electrically controlled Antilock Brake System (ABS) that produces stable braking force under various road surface conditions. The system helps avoid wheel locking when there is a sudden change in road surface during braking or when an excessive braking force is applied. The system monitors wheel speed 50 times per wheel rotation and matches stopping power to available traction. * Depending on road surface conditions, such as wet, loose, or uneven roads, braking distance for an ABS equipped vehicle may be longer than for a vehicle not equipped with ABS. ABS cannot prevent wheel skidding caused by braking while cornering. Please drive carefully and do not overly rely on ABS.

Easy Start System
On a normal motorcycle when starting the engine, the rider needs to press and hold the starter switch until the engine fires up. With the Suzuki Easy Start, all you need to do is one quick push of the starter switch, just like starting a modern car engine. The ECM recognizes the signals and keeps the starter motor working for a specified time.

Low RPM Assist
Low RPM Assist uses the ISC mechanism to help raise engine rpm slightly in launching and riding at low speed. This feature helps smoother operation when pulling away and when riding at slow speeds, this means it’s easier to pull away and easier to control the engine in stop-start traffic.

BI-DIRECTIONAL QUICK SHIFT SYSTEM
Bi-Directional Quick Shift System lets you shift up or down without the need to operate the clutch or throttle for seamless shifting. When activated, Quick Shift automatically interrupts power delivery just long enough to produce smoother, almost uninterrupted acceleration when you shift up. When decelerating, the system automatically opens the throttle valves just enough to increase rpm and match engine speed to the next-lower gear ratio.

RIDE BY WIRE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE SYSTEM
Not only is this new cable-free system simpler, lighter and more compact than a mechanical throttle, it provides light, natural, linear response to throttle operation. Precision control over throttle valve action, as realized by leveraging the onboard 32-bit ECM, also makes it possible to introduce other advanced systems that enhance riding ease and controllability.
