A Global Commitment, A Local Impact: Suzuki’s Clean Ocean Project

Protecting our waterways is a shared responsibility — and one we’re proud to support through the global efforts of the Suzuki Motor Corporation Clean Ocean Project.

Across Canada last year, Suzuki Canada employees and partners came together to organize clean-up events in five provinces: British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, Quebec, and Nova Scotia. These initiatives contributed to a larger global movement, where a record 6,817 participants joined the “Ocean of Tomorrow” campaign.

Since the program began in 2011, more than 29,000 participants worldwide have taken part — a testament to what can be achieved when we work together.

Reducing Plastic Packaging

Since October 2020, globally we’ve reduced a cumulative total of 185 tons of plastic:

  • 140 tons from outboard motor packaging
  • 45 tons from genuine parts packaging

As of March 2026, all plastics used in outboard motor packaging for Japanese models have been completely eliminated.

Micro-Plastic Collecting Technology

We recently announced that 34 patents related to our micro-plastic collecting device will be made freely available. By opening access to this technology, we hope to encourage broader collaboration across the marine industry to help address environmental challenges.
